DESCRIPTION:
Bulletproof Your Shoulders: Got a kink in your shoulder? Struggling with flamenco grip? Getting weird pinchies when you reach overhead or around your back? This 1 hour shoulder workshop is designed for you! We'll help you assess *your* particular weaknesses, and equip you with tools to get out of pain, and drills to get you stronger so you can get up in the air, and stay there!
Hips & Splits: Unlock your front and straddle splits with this 1 hour workshop! We'll dive deep into the anatomy of both types of splits, common limitations, and each participant will be given tools to assess where they're at. We'll discuss the hidden motions that have to happen in the hip to allow a successful split, and equip you with the mobility and strength tools you need to make progress, and is appropriate for all levels. This workshop includes assessment, active drills, passive stretches, and will help you understand your own anatomy and how to train for efficiency and avoid injury.
PREREQUISITES: None! Bring your own massage peanut if you have one.
INSTRUCTOR BIO:
JJ is a Doctor of Physical Therapy trained in circus rehabilitation and performance as well as pelvic floor physical therapy. JJ has a background in aerial arts, handstands, AcroYoga, Kettlebells, long distance running, and contact improv. Inspired to think of movement as medicine, they bring a unique blend of anatomy, awareness, and emotional intelligence to movement that empowers folks to unlock the healing intelligence in their bodies. The goal for every workshop, every session, is to discover the way we can move and heal our bodies as we do so.
