Constance Echo Palmer Workshops

$85 Purchase required to enroll

Upended: Vertical Partnering

9/6 | Saturday | 10:00A | $85 | Silks & Rope
Prerequisites: Int 2 Level + Must be comfortable climbing and inverting in air repeatedly. Some of this workshop is hand-to-hand partnering in air so being able to hang off two arms for an extended period of time is a good bench mark to determine if you can hold a partner's weight in your hands for skills and transitions. It's a bonus if you have understanding of foundational wraps and positions like catchers, s-wrap, and crossback straddle.
DESCRIPTION: Vertical partnering is some of my favourite and most creatively challenging (in a good way) work. Unlike other apparatus there is nothing to sit on to base your partner, so a solid understanding of what is holding you in and where you can support a friend is key - and that is exactly what I will teach you here. We will begin the workshop with a brief discussion on consent and communication in duo work followed by a partnering style warm up. I will share a few of my favourite baseing positions with you here and allow time for some flying explorations. We can work on silks or rope for this workshop in order to learn a mix of aerial hand to hand and partial weight sharing poses!

Looking Glass: Lyra Partnering
9/6 | Saturday | 12:30P | $85 | Lyra
Prerequisites: Comfort mounting a head-height hoop and basic knowledge of foundational poses.
DESCRIPTION: This workshop is designed for artists that have a regular lyra practice and are interested in incorporating duo work into their practice. Whether you have already played with friends in the air or are just dipping your toes in, you're sure to find new and exciting pathways here! We will begin the workshop with a brief discussion on consent and communication in duo work followed by a partnering style warm up. You will work on a mix of mirroring and weight sharing skills and poses that you can incorporate into your choreography.

Jumping Through Hoops
9/6 | Saturday | 3:00P | $85 | Lyra
Prerequisites: Int 1 Level + Strong grip strength and hang tolerance; fundamental beats at least in the sagittal plane (front/back); strong pike/pancake compression; pull over and pull up are a plus
DESCRIPTION: In this workshop we will examine some of my favourite dynamic transitions with the hoop. We will
use different beats to travel into and above the hoop and jump through the hoop to get to new orientations and
positions. This workshop will cover the classic illusion straddle and look at some fresh twists on the concept as
well as work on jumping through the hoop in different ways.

Drop It Like You Mean It
9/7 | Sunday | 10:00A | $85 |
Prerequisites: Advanced Level
DESCRIPTION: This workshop is for students that want a deeper understanding of drops rather than just memorizing the wraps
and letting go with a prayer. You will learn how to control your rotation as well as understand the wraps. When
you understand what is happening and what is catching you in a drop you can begin to stack your own!

Funky Fabric Flow
9/7 | Sunday | 12:30P | $85 | Silks
Prerequisites: Int 1 + Basic knowledge of hip key, thigh hitch, and russian climb; some experience with inside seatbelt is a plus but not necessary
DESCRIPTION: Come get funky with me in this workshop jam packed with some brainy choreography. If you like sneaky
transitions and curious shapes you are in the right place! We will be working our way through some cheeky
pathways leading into positions that can be restful and easily explored. My aim is to give you the framework of
the choreography and show you some moments in which you can explore to truly make it your own!

Sling Things: Choreo on Single Point Loop
9/7 | Sunday | 3:00P | $85 | Hammock
Prerequisites: Int 1 Level +
DESCRIPTION: I love sling so much because it lends it self to continuous movement and flow so naturally. Come learn some delicious sequences with me that will help you better understand wraps in sling and how they are connected.
